Helping lost youth was the dream of its founders, Tom and Bonnie Sanford. Project PATCH began in 1984 as a referral and foster placement program. From 1984 through 1993, 1,796 foster care referrals took place and 397 young people were placed in foster care. As the need to place youth escalated and it became increasingly difficult to find enough foster homes, the PATCH Board of Trustees began to pray for a place to house young people.

In 1989 a gift of 116 acres, along with the purchase of an adjacent 53 acres, provided that option. Through the blessing of Maranatha Volunteers International and many youth groups across the Northwest, the Project PATCH Ranch has developed into an impressive and modern campus with boys' and girls' dorms and a gymnasium. Since 1993 over 600 teenagers have been physically, emotionally and spiritually renewed at the Christian Treatment Facility in Idaho.

Recently a gift of 500 acres in Goldendale Washington gave PATCH the opportunity to build a Family Conference Center. From this facility families will have the opportunity to go through a 4 day Family Experience program in which they will learn skills in strength profiling, communication, boundaries and conflict resolution. Learning experiences will take place through the use of a ropes course, hikes, crafts, family discussions - all focused on practicing new skills. The goal is that each family would say ?We can do this!? at the end of the weekend.
