The extent to which a business operates in an ethical manner may well determine the long-term success of the endeavor. Therefore, it may be said that ethical behavior, and a proper understanding of what that constitutes, may be the most import element of leadership of any organization. Ethical behavior is built on a set of moral principles that are the guiding force in all actions. For the business, those moral values begin with the leader, i.e. the owner/president/CEO, who runs the business. Ultimately, those principles follow from the foundational principles of that individual. One cannot expect to gain success with proper business practices apart from one’s own value system. It is that value system that further determines the overall culture of the organization. The definition of business ethics is the set of moral rules that govern how businesses operate, how business decisions are made and how people are treated. So, what is the source of these moral rules? For the Christian leader, the Bible and its worldview are the only source of values that will work.
Bud earned his BA & MBA University of Northwestern, St. Paul, attended Western Seminary & is an Alumnus of the Harvard Business School. As CEO, Bud took Moda Health from 23 employees and $4 million in annual revenue to $500 million and laid the foundation for it to become a $3 billion company today.
