Vancouver Networking
What does it take to run a successful organization that meets the needs of the community?

Our special guest speaker for June is Duane Sich, Executive Director of the Friends of the Carpenter, a faith based 501 (c)(3) nonprofit ministry of outreach to those who are homeless. Duane is an ordained Presbyterian Pastor, having served a local Vancouver Presbyterian Church for 28 years prior to “stepping out in faith” to establish this mission outreach involving an entrepreneurial manufactory revenue stream as a source for funding in addition to private donations to sustain the ministry. The Friendship Center is a large industrial warehouse where persons are engaged in simple woodcraft production. The activities allow volunteers and participants to interact, forming friendships which provide networks of encouragement, support and collaborative referral. Duane and his wife Julie hale from Nebraska & they have been married 43 years, having lived in Vancouver 40 years.
