Serve. Lead. Inspire.
Who: Everyone!
What: Service Saturday is a day dedicated to serving our community. Churches, organizations and individuals finding a service opportunity in their community and encouraging their family and friends to get involved. The service projects can be big or small; something as simple as raking the leaves for your next door neighbor to volunteering at a homeless shelter for the entire day. This event is the Saturday before Thanksgiving as a twist to “Black Friday”.

Why: The idea of Service Saturday originated with the president of FaithHappenings.com as a way to encourage people to serve their communities. One of the main goals behind FaithHappenings.com is to touch people with the kingdom so they can touch others for the kingdom. This value of being engaged and active in spreading the kingdom through one’s community is also foundational to "The Truth" KKPZ 1330 AM Radio, 104.5 WAYFM, the Christian Chamber Northwest, Serving Our Neighbors & FlashLove. There is an incredible power when we serve in some capacity at the same time across a city! As a result, we are joining forces to help with project ideas, mobilizing volunteers, and spreading God’s love through serving our community.
You can get involved in a variety of ways!!
1. Be a project leader for Service Saturday! We are looking for people across the Portland/ Vancouver area to head up a project in their community. Ask the ministries and churches you are already involved with as a place to start brainstorming service ideas.
2. Volunteer!! Come and give your time on the 22nd at any of the projects that will be available. You can help for an hour or all day! We will have a list of opportunities on the Facebook page for Service Saturday.
3. Encourage others to volunteer!! Bring a friend, family members, church members, and neighbors as you get involved on the 22nd. Let’s make a lasting impact on our community by meeting needs in the name of Jesus.
