Event Description:
Our guest speakers for September are Tony Thiessen of Unitus Credit Union & Chair of Ready To Learn/Ready To Work & Sharron Seideman of Salem Area Chamber of Commerce, Workforce Development Team. Want a better workforce for your company. Come and learn how to help make that happen.
In 2004, the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce, Keizer Chamber of Commerce, the Salem-Keizer School District, and Enterprise for Employment and Education partnered to create Ready to Learn – Ready to Work to help prepare our students for success. Through work-based learning experiences ranging from job shadows and internships to workplace tours and classroom presentations, employers are helping to make lessons come alive in a way no teacher in a classroom can. When students have access to the workplace, they learn first-hand how and why the things they study in school are connected to jobs, careers, and further education. Students better understand the importance of workforce skills and attitudes and begin to develop a vision of their future.
This meeting is designed to help you build your network, wherein you will be invited to introduce yourself & your organization during the meeting, as well as meet with other guests & members before & after the meeting. There will also be a short presentation regarding the Chamber, as well as a special guest speaker in regards to a topic designed to help you Connect, Learn, Grow, Save &/or Engage with your community.

We are meeting at the Broadway Commons located at 1300 Broadway NE, Salem, OR 97301.
Date/Time Information:
Check in starts at 7am, followed by connecting until 7:45am. Then after a short presentation about the Christian Chamber, we ask everyone to introduce themselves around 8am, wherein we then have our featured speaker from 8:15am-8:45am, followed by a few announcements and connecting until 9am.

Fees/Admission:
There is a $5 Suggested Donation for Guests & Expired Members. Current Members (under the new Membership Plan, effective September 1, 2010) have access at no charge, if they RSVP. Members may also invite Guests, wherein the Suggested Donation for their Guest is $5 per person.
