Event Description:

Our special guest speaker for March is Dick Hughes, editorial page editor of the Statesman Journal, where he writes most of the editorials and also a weekly column. He’s a Preacher's Kid, husband, father, dog owner, and a deacon at Westminster Presbyterian church in South Salem, which he attends with his wife Rachelle. Dick and Rachelle live in West Salem, wherein they have two children in Washington - a daughter in graduate school in Tacoma and a son in graduate school in D.C.
Dick has worked for the Statesman Journal since 1981. He moved to the opinion side from the news side nearly 20 years ago after holding a reporting and editing positions. He also has worked for the News-Register in McMinnville, the Times-News in Twin Falls, Idaho, and USA Today.
He is a former board member of the Association of Opinion Journalists. As a newsroom trainer, Dick has led seminars across the country, from the University of Delaware to the University of California/Berkley. He teaches Journalistic Writing I and II at Willamette University and previously taught journalism at Oregon State University. Dick estimates that he has written some 10,000 news stories and 4,000 editorials and columns (as well as more than 6,000 tweets).
This meeting is designed to help you build your network, wherein you will be invited to introduce yourself & your organization during the meeting, as well as meet with other guests & members before & after the meeting. There will also be a short presentation regarding the Chamber, as well as a special guest speaker in regards to a topic designed to help you Connect, Learn, Grow, Save &/or Engage with your community.

We are meeting at the Broadway Commons located at 1300 Broadway NE, Salem, OR 97301.
Date/Time Information:
Check in starts at 7:15am, followed by connecting until 7:45am. Then after a short presentation about the Christian Chamber, we ask everyone to introduce themselves around 8am, wherein we then have our featured speaker from 8:15am-8:45am, followed by a few announcements and connecting until 9am.

There is a $5 Suggested Donation for Guests & Expired Members. Current Members have access at no charge, if they RSVP. Members may also invite Guests, wherein the Suggested Donation for their Guest is $5 per person.
