Protect Your Ministry in Today's Society

  • Share:
Name: Protect Your Ministry in Today's Society
Date: October 26, 2015
Time: 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM PDT
Event Description:

Are you a pastor, Christian school administrator, ministry leader, or business owner?  Are you unwilling to compromise your beliefs about marriage, gender and sexuality, but concerned about the legal liabilities that might result?  Are you concerned about the recent attacks on religious freedom here in America?  Do you wonder how you would respond, if you were asked to compromise your beliefs?

The U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision to redefine marriage for the entire country has many pastors, Christian school administrators, ministry leaders and business owners worried about how this unprecedented decision may impact them personally or impact their ministry or business. During arguments before the Supreme Court, the U.S. Solicitor General stated that maintaining tax-exempt status is “going to be an issue” for non-profits that hold to the natural and historical understanding of marriage.

In Oregon, a young couple with five young children, who denied a lesbian couple’s request to create a cake for their wedding, when same- gender marriage was still illegal in Oregon, were ordered to pay a fine of $135,000 by the Commissioner of the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industry.  Also, Basic Rights Oregon has targeted an Oregon judge for refusing to perform marriages and now he is being investigated by a judicial fitness commission.
