Event Description:
Our special guest speaker for May is Tyler Smith, Corporate Counsel for your Christian Chamber of Commerce. He will be discussing "Employement & Business Law in Oregon" focusing on issues dealing with Employment, Wages, Contract Laws, Avoiding Pitfalls, Things to know & look for & Administrative Rules. Prior to starting his law firm, Tyler last worked for Microsoft. He is a City Counselor for the City of Hubbard, was past chairman of the City Planning Commission and in the past worked for the DLCD and Big Look Commission as a policy analyst during the first round of recommendations they made to the legislature. He also worked heavily on one of the few land use reform recomendations finally adopted by the Legislature giving some local control back to regions by making the regionalization process simpler and more meaningful. Tyler was a past re-founder of the Willamette Law Federalist Society, Law Journal Articles Editor, and Moot Court Member. During law school he worked as a law clerk at O'Donnell and Clark LLP. In his prior career building business start-up teams, he established himself as one of the most successful and respected Silicon Valley headhunters. He is a former Army Combat Engineer and attended the Oregon Military Academy and is an active member of city leadership, in his community, church and local political organizations. He and his wife have one son. Please ask him to play on your basketball team!
