Mission ConneXion - Board Governance ConneXion
What will the “next step” be that moves you closer to the missional results that are on your heart? Or to achieve the goals you’ve felt the Lord call you to in 2015? Could it be a more effective board of directors that would make the difference? A board that consistently employed the “best practices” in their governance of the ministry? Last year one CEO who attended the Board Governance ConneXion left knowing exactly what that next step was for his organization – and he was a trained lawyer with years at the helm of a significant ministry in Portland.

Mission ConneXion Northwest has the mission of mobilizing the Body of Christ in the churches of the Pacific Northwest to serve the Lord on mission fields all over the world. That happens best when sending agencies are well led, not only by the head of the agency and its staff, but by an informed, dedicated Spirit-led Board of Directors.
Another way Mission ConneXion can serve you is by enhancing the ministry of your Board of Directors. We’ve created Board Governance ConneXion, another focused connexion event in the series of 10 we are offering this year. Dave Coleman, for many years a senior program officer for the Murdock Trust who evaluated 100s of organizations seeking grants, will be the presenter. Dave has authored a book on the “best practices” of board governance and now leads BoardTrek, an agency devoted to training and consulting with boards of non-profits.
Attendees at the first Board Governance ConneXion in 2013 had these comments: “I’ve been board chair since March this year, wish I’d had this training before I began.” One business entrepreneur with prior experience on numerous boards said: “A great presentation and examples for the smaller non-profits; Great 101/102 overview”. One business owner serving as chairman of a ministry group said: “I would highly recommend Dave to any board Chair who wants to bring more clarity to their board and organization. His format and process works."
We are holding this Board Governance ConneXion event for the second year because we believe this simple paradigm is true –
This could be the “next step” that could make the difference in achieving what you hope to. In addition to inviting those already serving on your board, this is a great training ground for prospective board members.
