Living in Family and God’s Grace
Samaritan & Lay-Counselor Intensive Training Week
All classes are appropriate for people interested in living well in healthy families or helping families do well. Classes are open to everyone.
Monday:
9:00am Greetings
9:30am - 12:30pm Healing guilt and grief.
Study the scripture through role play of a miracle of God's Grace
(Break 11:00 - 11:15am)
12:30 Noon - 1:15pm lunch
1:15pm - 4:30pm GSM Vancouver team presents an adventure class.

Tuesday:
9:00 - 10:00 am Greetings, telling your story
10 - Noon Luke 18:15 - 17 People even brought little children to Him, for Him to touch them; but when the
disciples saw this they turned them away. But Jesus called the children to Him and said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the Kingdom of God belongs. I tell you solemnly, anyone who does not welcome the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.' (the Jerusalem Bible.) This class will be an adventure of exploring the faith of a child.
Noon - 1:00pm Lunch
1:00 - 2:45pm Visitor from Egypt. What is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? This class will help people understand
people who suffer with it. By understanding, you will be able to encourage those who live with someone who struggles with PTSD.
2:45 - 3:00pm Break
3:00 - 4:30pm Understanding life with mental illness. We meet people everyday who cope with mental illness.
"Who Is my neighbor" living with a mental illness? What would it be good for me to know so I can understand and encourage . . . to contribute to solution?. How may I encourage joy? The Grace of God, knowledge and skill building in this class will improve our confidence through understanding how to communicate with our neighbors who live with mental illness.
Wednesday
9:00 - 9:30am Greetings
9:30 - 4:30 Ben Lessley, LPC Candidate. Living well in family by learning how to be open from our hearts toward
each other. You will enjoy being exposed to another way of thinking of being in family. There will be skill building in a safe place. (This class will have an addendum session4:30 - 6:00pm. All are welcome to attend.)

9:00 - 9:30am Greetings
9:30 - 4:30pm Dave Anderson, LPC Candidate. Communication in Marriage. Effective communication in
marriage leads to growth, peace and healthy families. Come and resupply the quivers in your communication pouch. It can be great when we hear and are heard. You will have an opportunity to practice skills in a supportive environment.

Friday:
9:00 - 10:30am Healing from shame. Teaching from a personal story.
10:45am - 12:30pm Becoming an adopter of people. An international Samaritan Christian worker will share
about the healing possibilities for making family relationships even though ones birth family is fractured.
12:30 - 1:15pm lunch
1:15 - 2:15pm A professionally trained actress will read Psalms and writings of Dag Hammarskjöld
2:15 - 2:30pm Break
2:30 - 3:45pm A study the Scriptures through role play of a miracle of Jesus
3:45 - 4:30pm Closing Intensive with worship and gratitude
