Event Description:
Why do some people perform so well in the workplace and advance so quickly in their careers? Why do they seem to have less conflict, and when it does arise, why are they so good at resolving it quickly and completely? It is seldom because they’ve got a higher IQ than others. There is another kind of smart that correlates strongly with success in all aspects of life. Proverbs 4:7-7 puts it succinctly: “Get wisdom. Prize her highly and she will exalt you.” These principles can be referred to as relational wisdom.

Our special guest speaker for September is David Schlachter with the Crossroads Resolution Group. sharing about Relational Wisdom. The value of strong relational skills is revealed by the corporate world’s growing emphasis on teaching “emotional intelligence” (also known as “EI” or “EQ”) to their managers. EQ is a secular version of relational wisdom, but does not address God awareness or engagement. Your EQ is the foundation for a host of critical skills—it impacts most everything you say and do each day. EQ accounts for 58% of performance in all types of jobs. Relational wisdom can produce major benefits in every work-related and personal setting. These benefits include improved productivity and team cohesiveness, better balance between work and family life, less conflict, reduced staff and volunteer turnover, higher customer satisfaction, and increased growth and profitability. No matter whether people measure high or low in EQ, they can work to improve it, and those who score low can actually catch up to their coworkers. If the corporate world is consistently observing these kinds of benefits to be associated with high emotional intelligence, Christians should be especially motivated to develop their relational skills.
David Schlachter is an experienced attorney, mediator, arbitrator, and instructor. He helps individuals and their organizations with complex business disputes as well as organizational and leadership conflicts, using a transformative, faith based model. David’s extensive background in serving businesses as an attorney for 30 years, and full time work providing mediation and arbitration services, provides him with the understanding to help in challenging situations. His background and experience allows him to help clients address the issues which are threatening their ability to lead their organizations and businesses, while also helping individuals repair and restore relationships necessary to reach a lasting resolution.
