Event Description:
Most companies turn to traditional group brainstorming any time they need a new idea. Unfortunately, the brain research consistently shows that there is one problem with that . . . it doesn't work!
If the goal is to get more and better ideas, companies would actually be better off if they never did group brainstorming at all! Individuals consistently out-perform traditional group brainstorming in generating creative, innovative new ideas. But, when used correctly, in Brain-stirring, groups can be the best answer.
Brain-stirring is a cutting edge alternative to traditional brainstorming. It uses the recent brain research to avoid group think, seamlessly merge individual and group creativity processes, and generate ideas that would not be accessible by brainstorming. It is also a ton of fun!

Our special speaker for November is Brad Pendergraft (LCSW), Founder and Clinic Director of Lifetime Optimization, Inc. and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 20 years experience with trauma and crisis services. Brad will be speaking about Brainstorming and Brain-stirring, learning how to use the discoveries from brain research to make your company more creative and innovative.
Brad has spent his career seeking more effective strategies and approaches to facilitate change for clients in crisis, and this search has led to the combination of Brainwave OptimizationTM,, and the Neuro Optimization Therapy and Coaching Model. He is certified by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation and worked with NYPD officers after 9/11 who were suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He is a sought after speaker on topics including Suicide Assessment and Intervention, Solution Focused Counseling, Telephone Counseling, Clinical Supervision, and Ethics. He has published research and has presented at a variety of conferences, including the American Association of Suicidology, Behavioral Healthcare Tomorrow, Employee Assistance Professionals Association, Employee Assistance of North America, and others.
Brad has also worked closely with the Portland Police Bureau and other law enforcement agencies, providing services after deadly force incidents. He has trained and supervised hundreds of mental health professionals providing clinical services to clients presenting with depression, suicidal and homicidal thoughts, anxiety, sleep disorders, substance abuse, gambling addiction, PTSD, and many other situations. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Certified Brain Technologist and is trained as a Life Coach and an Executive Coach.
This meeting is designed to help you build your network, wherein you will be invited to introduce yourself & your organization during the meeting, as well as meet with other guests & members before & after the meeting. There will also be a short presentation regarding the Chamber, as well as a special guest speaker in regards to a topic designed to help you Connect, Learn, Grow, Save &/or Engage with your community.
