Name: Christian Chamber - Portland Eastside Meeting
Date: June 10, 2014
Time: 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM PDT
Registration: Sorry, public registration for this event has been closed.
Event Description:

Self-control and self-discipline are often mentioned in the New Testament as indispensable in the Christian life. In recent years, through best-selling books and influential speeches, the importance of self-discipline has been rediscovered in the secular world, too.  Do you have the tools on how to add productive self-discipline to your life and business?

Our special guest speaker for June is Mike Wiley, Founder of Disciplined Life Coaching and serves
business owners, entrepreneurs, managers and salespeople.  He also served for several years as the ordained business administrator for a multi-ethnic urban church.  He and his wife founded a thriving community newspaper business which he later sold to a regional media company.  Mike has appeared on television and radio, co-hosted a daily drive-time radio talk show and authored numerous articles for publication.  He is a credentialed member of Toastmasters Intl. speaking group, a successful youth athlete, maintains a regular fitness routine & is the pastor of a multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in east Multnomah County.

Why we exist . . . to "work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you . . . Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare.”  Jeremiah 29:7

We are committed to . . .
  • Connecting our community with ongoing intentional prayer
  • Educating our community to pray at home, with their neighbors, in their workplace / ministry and at their school
  • Engaging with the seeds of transformation that have been planted for years
What we do . . . promote prayer and service opportunities for Believers to engage through the National Day of Prayer, Palau's CityServe, National Night Out, Sister City organizations, emergency preparedness, neighborhood associations and much, much more.

Who we serve . . . pastors, ministry leaders and marketplace/community leaders who want to see God's Kingdom established in every facet of society.

Who we are . . . SON was launched in January of 1999, by a group of concerned local Church Pastors, Ministry & Workplace Leaders that wanted to respond to the Y2K transition with a united balance strategy of Prayer and Service.   After Y2K & 9/11, SON developed key Partnerships to encourage believers to participate in . . .
  • Prayer opportunities focused on our community National Day of Prayer, Global Day of Prayer, See You At The Pole, Portland Again, 10 Days & SEVEN
  • Service opportunities with the Portland Police Department & Community Care Days at Portland's Public Schools
  • In 2006, SON partnered with the Portland Office of Emergency Management and became a part of the Portland Citizen Corps Council
  • In 2007, SON hosted a series of three Greater Portland Prayer Coalition Gatherings and partnered with the Portland Office of Neighborhood Involvement and Reaching America (wherein churches can make contact with new neighbors each month)
  • In 2008, SON provided extensive prayer coverage for Portland CityFest & its Season of Service and developed the infrastructure for Believers to begin to connect with ongoing community-wide Prayer Campaigns & Service Campaigns that are currently being conducted by established community-service organizations.
For the past 6 years, SON has been investing in the sustainability of the Christian Chamber of Commerce of the Northwest, helped establish the Marketplace Summit to collaborate with other marketplace ministries & utilized media to help launch the Kingdom Business Forum to air on "The Truth" KKPZ 1330 AM, Facebook, Twitter & YouTube.
