Event Description:
Everyone has emotions. What role do emotions play in everyday life, including business or ministry activity? Sometimes emotions are over-expressed, sometimes they are under-expressed and under-acknowledged. When not effectively managed, emotions take a toll on productivity and eventually the bottom line.
Our special guest facilitator is Valerie Charles, an educator and executive coach, who will outline how Emotionally Intelligent Business provides simple tools to balance emotions and effectively integrate them into business so managers, employees, and the entire business thrive. Charles teaches interpersonal communication, team dynamics, conflict resolution, and marketing for managers at Warner Pacific College in Portland. She's also an executive coach specializing in emotional intelligence & communication, a divorce & family mediator with Genesis Mediation and an account executive with Genesis Human Resources.Charles serves on the board of directors for the International Coach Federation Oregon Chapter as the program director, and does volunteer coaching at Hiring Our Heroes events for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Her doctoral work through Walden University focuses on the emotional intelligence of executive coaches; upon completion she will hold a PhD in organizational psychology. She holds a master’s degree in teaching from Washington State University Vancouver and a bachelor’s degree in organizational communication with a related area of study in marketing from Arizona State University, as well as certifications in coaching and anger management.
