Event Description:
CityServe is a movement that encourages, equips, and empowers Christians to love and serve their cities through long-term efforts focused on greatest needs. An initiative of the Portland-based Luis Palau Association, CityServe is a sustainable project that includes year-round programs, ongoing campaigns for support and awareness, and countless efforts to mobilize volunteers. Through it, local governments and evangelical churches are breaking down walls, debunking stereotypes, and proving they have more in common than anyone imagined, according to Kirk. CityServe is taking shape not only in Portland, but also in New York City, Phoenix, Sacramento, Houston and more.
Before joining the Palau team, Kirk was founding executive director for the Beaverton Love INC (Love In the Name of Christ) affiliate, helping unite the local church to serve the impoverished. In 2002, she was an assistant to the president of Northwest Children’s Outreach, helping launch this ministry to fill in the gaps for children in need.
Kirk came to serve in ministry after making a decision in 2002 to jump off the corporate ladder. Upon graduating with a business degree from the University of Oregon, she spent 19 years in the publishing industry, working for two Fortune 500 companies. Her last position was with Simon & Schuster Publishing as a national accounts manager. Kirk and her husband of 31 years, Tom, have two adult children and one grandson.
This meeting is designed to help you build your network, wherein you will be invited to introduce yourself & your organization during the meeting, as well as meet with other guests & members before & after the meeting. There will also be a short presentation regarding the Chamber, as well as a special guest speaker or engaging discussion in regards to a topic designed to help you Connect, Learn, Grow, Save &/or Engage with your community.
