Time: 7:30 AM - 9:00 AM PDT

Event Description:

Are you confused and feel you have no grip on the Healthcare Reform Act?  On April 4th, the Bloomberg Business Week reported that many small business employers have no idea whether they HAVE to buy a health plan next year for their employees or face a fine under the Patient Protection Affordable Care Act (PPACA).  There are a lot of rumors out there – on the news, in the newspaper, and on the internet.  Three years after the Healthcare Reform became law and less than 7 months before its biggest reforms take effect many small business employers don’t grasp its basic elements.  Who is subject to the penalty and what they are going to have to pay.  Beginning in 2014 individuals and small business employers will be able to purchase plans in Oregon’s COVER OREGON (a health insurance exchange called Marketplace).  Do I as a small business employer have to purchase my group health insurance through Cover Oregon?  Will I be subject to penalties per employee?  What if I am a small business employer and own a couple of businesses (like tanning salon and spa and salon) – will I be subject to penalties for both businesses?  What are the qualifications of a large employer?  What if I cut my average work week to 30 hours a week – will I nullify my requirements to provide health insurance as a small business employer?

Our special guest speaker for June is Donna Green, Health & Life Insurance Benefits Specialist with the Northwest Financial Group.  Prior to Northwest Financial Group LLC Donna was the General Manager for the Heritage Mall in Albany from 1995 to 2007.

Donna’s entry into Health and Life insurance wasn’t planned.  In 2007 her nephew suffered a tragic spinal cord injury which left him paralyzed and unable to care for him self at the age of 27.  Her experience with the healthcare system and frustration with its system created a determination to create change and ultimately brought Donna to a new career.  Donna is involved in her community, serving on the Board of Directors for NAIW (National Association Insurance for Women), Rotary Club of Albany, Corvallis Chamber of Commerce, Christian Chamber of Commerce, NAHU (National Association of Health Underwriters) and Points for Profit.

Donna is extremely passionate about healthcare and considers it her responsibility to accurately identify the specific needs of each client and direct them to the most comprehensive and affordable coverage.  Due to her experience in the corporate world she understands the economic landscape of the industry and many of the issues employer’s face today.  This enables Donna to add value to both sides of the market – as a broker and consultant to employers and representative to the consumer.

Donna and her husband Dennis have been married for many years and enjoy spending time together, walking, bicycling, college football games, cooking and sharing recipes with friends.  Donna has an identical twin sister.  In fact, she especially enjoys hearing her sister’s children and grandchildren call her “Aunt Mom,” knowing that they appreciate the relationship as much as she does.  Donna is also actively involved with the church would someday like to publish her own cookbook.
