Our guest speakers for April, Debra Mervyn and Karen Bowerman will introduce you to the path to acquiring these systems for your enterprise. You will learn how these systems can lead to reduced stress and far greater freedom, creativity and growth. With training and implementation of these systems, your organization will be able to execute any tool, plan, or project with greater efficiency and effectiveness.
Debra Mervyn brings over 25 years experience of multi-faceted quality, lean, and project management system implementations. Her management skills include all aspects of planning and delivery including group facilitation and team building. She is skilled and practiced in guiding organizations through quality, lean and project management implementations, including business process evaluations, strategy and planning, and process engineering. She has assisted clients in development, implementation and training to quality as well as project management systems. She has led organizations through strategic and tactical planning. Her background and experience includes design, engineering, service and manufacturing business environments, as well as government sector and nonprofit organizations. She also co-founded and is president of U-Choose Education Forum, a nonprofit educational organization. She has a MS degree in Metallurgical Engineering, from Columbia University, and BS in Biology from Willamette University. Her post-graduate studies include quality and project management, lean office and manufacturing and leadership, communication and team building.
Karen Bowerman has over 30 years of professional experience in higher education as a professor of business and service as Dean of the College of Business and Public Administration at California State University, San Bernardino where she was named Dean Emeritus. Her philosophical approach of administration is to artfully combine fiscal conservatism with innovation, exemplified by her College being named, during lean budgetary times, as one of the Top 18 in the World for Innovation by European CEO. She has worked with managers at every level in areas of strategic management, legal aspects of human resources management and leadership. Karen has co-authored textbooks in business leadership. Current service to the region includes City Councilor, City of Lake Oswego and mentorship to both start-up enterprises and firms ready for growth who seek strategic advising. She is a member of the Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce, was on the 50+ Advisory Board of Lake Oswego and holds many awards for bridging academic programs to the communities she has served. Karen earned the Ph.D. in Administration from Texas A&M University and the Masters in Speech Communication from Kansas University.
This "Lunch & Learn" meeting is designed for connecting, wherein you are invited to introduce yourself & your organization to other members & guests before & after the meeting.
