Christian Chamber - Beaverton Meeting
Emotions are a natural and important aspect of who you, your employees, and your clients/customers are . . . and they impact your business. Sometimes emotions are over-expressed, sometimes they are under-expressed and under-acknowledged. When not effectively managed, emotions take a toll on productivity and eventually the bottom line. The Emotionally Intelligent Business provides a framework for allowing emotions to work for you rather than against you and provides simple tools to balance emotions and effectively integrate them into your business so you, your employees, and your business thrive.

Our special guest speaker for October, Valerie Charles PhD (abd), CPC, will share practical insights for business leaders on emotional intelligence in the workplace. Some of the topics she will address are:
- Why emotions belong in business
- The benefits of creating an emotionally intelligent business
- How to create an emotionally intelligent business
By integrating her multidisciplinary background and vast life-experiences, Valerie makes a powerful impact on the people she serves, elevating success and providing support through transition and change. Valerie is an educator at Warner Pacific College where she teaches interpersonal communication, team dynamics, conflict resolution, and marketing for managers. She's also an executive coach specializing in emotional intelligence & communication, a divorce & family mediator with Genesis Mediation and an account executive with Genesis Human Resources. Valerie serves on the Board of Directors for the International Coach Federation Oregon Chapter as the Program Director, and does volunteer coaching at Hiring Our Heroes events for the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Valerie's doctoral work at Walden University focuses on the emotional intelligence of executive coaches, upon completion she will hold a PhD in Organizational Psychology. She has earned a Master in Teaching Degree from Washington State University Vancouver and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Communication with a related area of study in Marketing from Arizona State University, as well as certifications in coaching and anger management.
