  • Share:
Name: Bybee Lakes Hope Center - Night of Remembrance at the HOPE Memorial
Date: December 21, 2021
Time: 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM PST
Website: More Info
Event Description:

As Helping Hands Reentry Outreach Centers has expanded, honoring the memory of those who have lost their lives on the streets becomes increasingly important. It is a key part of the healing process for those in our communities who have faced homelessness, as so many have lost friends and loved ones.

In May this year
,
at the Bybee Lakes Hope Center at the Jordan Schnitzer Campus, with City Commissioner Dan Ryan, we dedicated a memorial to those who are no longer with us, but live on in our hearts.  Watch Video Here!

Looking toward the longest night of the year on Tue, December 21, 2021, we will be hosting our first annual Night of Remembrance at Bybee Lakes Hope Center in front of the HOPE Memorial.  Speakers and guests include Helping Hands Founder and CEO Alan Evans, Mayor Ted Wheeler, and City Commissioner Dan Ryan.  If you would like to attend in person, please email Bethany Verrett at b.verrett@helpinghandsreentry.org  Otherwise, we will be broadcasting the event LIVE on our Facebook page.

The HOPE Memorial will stand as a testimony to the stories of those who died without a permanent home anywhere in the world. It will have the number of people identified by Multnomah County’s Domicile Unknown Report as having died on the streets, updated annually since 2011.  There is also an opportunity for those who wish to honor a loved one by name to secure a plaque at our cost and have a place to visit in remembrance of their life.

While the night is long, the dawn will always come. Helping Hands Reentry Outreach Centers serves the community with the hope that a day will arrive when sustainable housing is available for all. The HOPE Memorial stands as our commitment as an organization and as a community to achieving that goal.

If you would like to memorialize a loved one with a name plaque on the Hope Memorial, please click this link, fill out the form with their name, and submit it along with a one-time payment of $20.  Each name is limited to 32 characters on a plaque, and nicknames that are affiliated with gangs, contain profanity, or have political associations will not be accepted.

For questions or help securing your name plaque, please contact Bethany Verrett via email at b.verrett@helpinghandsreentry.org
